An Evolver Talk

Discover how fungi can nourish your immune health and emotional well-being.

Our fungal friends are some of our most important sources of both nutrition and medicine.  Nutritionally, mushrooms can be excellent sources of Vitamin D, a wide range of minerals, and in the right form, protein.  As medicine, mushrooms are among the most potent immune system tonics, used widely for immune imbalances such as low resistance to colds, flu, and other infections; autoimmune conditions; allergies; and HIV/AIDS.  Especially in Asia but increasingly here at home, medicinal mushrooms are used to help fight cancer and mitigate the adverse effects from chemotherapy and radiation.
Some mushrooms go beyond this with a broad range of activity including regulating blood sugar, antimicrobial effects, and protecting the liver and helping it to recover from damage from a wide range of causes.  In Asian tradition, fungi such as Reishi (Ganoderma) and Fu ling (Poria) are used to nourish the Shen, corresponding to both our emotional and our cognitive / mental health.

In this session you will:
  • Gain an understanding of the Fungal Kingdom and mushrooms' unique place in the Tree of Life.
  • Discuss a review of the most up to date scientific research on medicinal mushrooms, including powerful immunological benefits
  • Learn about traditional Chinese uses of mushrooms for physical and emotional health.
  • Explore the ancient concept of Shen (Mind), how the modern lifestyle can deplete Shen, and what steps we can take to nourish and replenish Shen with mushrooms and other remedies.
  • Distinguish between the half dozen most proven mushroom remedies and their specific uses and strengths.
  • Learn how to effectively prepare mushrooms at home as both food and medicine.
Join us for a lively, informative discussion about Reishi, shiitake, maitake, turkey tail, Chaga, Cordyceps, and other powerful mushroom remedies. You will be part of the discussion, able to ask your questions on camera, just like a Skype call. If you happen to miss it live, you can view a video recording at any time.
